I like crafts.
I like Pinterest.
I like to get those adorable little clothes pins and pretend that I can put together cute little gifts with them. But… I am a mom. A mom of a toddler. And I don’t have much time or energy to do all that fun stuff anymore.
I’m sure there are resounding sighs of “she’s got that right” echoing around the world right now. I like to dream and think that one day I’ll get around to making all 1239 “for the home” ideas I have pinned. In all reality, I know that they will likely stay as little trinkets in my digital treasure chest that will never take form. And that’s okay.
But… every once in a while I bust out a craft. Something that I can see to completion (unlike that never-ending laundry or dirty dishes in my home– can I get another amen?!).
Anyways, now that my husband is deployed, I’ve enjoyed looking for items and ideas for care packages. I thought I would share the first one with you today.
Maybe you have a loved one that is far away, at college, traveling, or even someone close by that is going through a difficult time.
Care packages can be a huge source of encouragement– especially is that person’s love language is gifts!
The first box’s theme is “You are my Sunshine”.
I found a booklet of multicolored polka-doted scrapbook paper from Wal-Mart, which I used to line the inside of the box to make it more festive.
I also found a perfect photo album with the inscription “You are my Sunshine”. I filled it with 4×6 prints that I ordered from Shutterfly.
I packed a few other snacks to match the “yellow” theme including: honey mustard pretzels and sunflower seeds.
I also included note cards with stamps for him to write to us.
With all that aside, we do get to talk to Daddy at least twice everyday! Technology is certainly amazing and Baby O has been handling everything so well. I hope you enjoyed a peak into our lives and that maybe you were inspired with these ideas for a thoughtful gift.
