Hello! I’m Jessica Meginness, blessed wife of David and mama to a handsome little two-year-old boy. I am passionate about God and focusing my life around putting him first and foremost. Without Him, I would not have made it through the difficult trials I have faced. He alone is my source of hope and lasting joy. It is my sincere pleasure to share these pieces of my life with you!
We are a military family and are currently braving our third deployment. I am proud of my husband for all the sacrifices he makes for us and our country. While these times prove difficult, I am thankful for the unwavering support of friends, family and our church.
I am a former teacher and spent four years working with some amazing teachers and students before choosing to be at home with our son. Since then, I have started tutoring part-time and also coach high school cheerleading (yes, to all you doubters out there, cheerleading is a sport!).
My Writing Journey
I have always wanted to be a writer. While growing up, I began journaling and enjoyed reflecting on the events of life. I also wrote poems and short stories. And as most young girls, I dreamed of spending my life sharing my talent with the world. As I grew older, the practicality of becoming a writer seemed less and less possible as I didn’t know where my future would lead.
It broke my heart to set aside my first love, but I tried to use my passions for reading and writing to fuel a new desire to teach. So I became an English teacher. While I was very fulfilled in my career as a teacher, I still felt the tug to write. This primarily came from my husband who knew my long lost desire to write. While I would fiddle with some pieces here and there, I still felt lost in my pursuit. Until a few months ago. You can read more about my blogging journey here.
I am the oldest of only two children in my family. Yes, I am the big sister (and obviously older one as my sister will attest). She is such a joy to have in my life as I get the privilege of having her as my assistant cheer coach. We are a rock star coaching team of an awesome group of girls. My parents are a true blessing and have provided so many wonderful opportunities for me growing up and beyond.
My husband and I were married in 2007 and have had the adventure of living in three different cities during our almost ten years of marriage. We have travelled to Paris, France and plan to make future travel plans to other European countries. We simply adore the culture and history!
Baby O came in 2013 and life has never been the same. He is a fun-loving, wild, snuggle boy. While motherhood is certainly difficult, he warms my heart and is the best helper I could ever need.
Things I Love
Of course you already know that I love my husband and son, but I don’t think you can ever really enforce that too many times. I also love anything French. I minored in French in college and love all things parisienne! Warm drinks (coffee, tea, hot chocolate and the like) are splendid additions to any day no matter the weather.
I am super practical (yes, I suppose it is almost a super power). I love bargain shopping and attempting some semi-diy projects. I am inspired by gift-giving and making things special for those on the receiving end. And I am a new-found lover of essential oils.
There you go! I hope you will join me on my journey to fulfilling my dreams as a writer! Take a look around and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. Thanks!
